September 5 is one of the significant dates in our country — the Day of the Languages of the People of Kazakhstan. This holiday aims to enhance the status of the native language, strengthen peace and harmony, and preserve national values, traditions, and customs.
The date of the celebration has a special historical significance. On September 5, the outstanding educator, reformer, prominent figure of the Alash movement, and “Teacher of the Nation” Akhmet Baitursynuly was born. He laid the foundations of Kazakh linguistics, systematized the grammar of the Kazakh language, wrote the first primers and textbooks, and developed the national writing system known as “Töte Zhazu.” Therefore, since 2017, the Day of the Languages of the People of Kazakhstan has officially been celebrated on the birthday of this great scholar.
This holiday is also an expression of deep respect for the languages and cultures of more than one hundred ethnic groups living in our country.
To mark the Day of the Languages of the People of Kazakhstan, the Municipal State Institution “IT School-Lyceum No. 9 named after Dinmukhamed Kunaev” held the grand opening of the Decade of the Kazakh, Russian and English Languages under the theme “Language Space: From National Values to Global Opportunities.”
As part of the festive event, students took part in a Parade of Languages. Speaking in Kazakh, Russian, and English, they spoke about the importance of language in human life, its role in preserving national culture, and its contribution to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding among peoples.
Respect for the languages and cultures of different ethnic groups in our country is a strong foundation for peace, harmony, and unity. As the saying goes: “Different languages — united aspirations; different faces — united hearts.”
May our common home always be filled with peace, prosperity, friendship, and mutual understanding!
